To celebrate the beginning of their UK tour, the Danish trio have aired a double bill of stunning videos.
The short films for ‘Between The Walls’ and ‘Black Summer’ (both songs are taken from the band’s fourth studio album Piramida) cover dark and emotional subject matter, both equally as compelling. Filmed in Efterklang’s native Copenhagen, ‘Between The Walls’ was made by Sebastian Birk and features actors Sara Hjort and Peter Hald as restless lovers. The blood sport-centred ‘Black Summer’ was made by the duo Kevan Funk and Benjamin Loeb (aka Everything All At Once).

A year to the day since the release of fourth record Piramida, Efterklang have premiered a video for album closer 'Monument'.
Created by Andreas Koefoed and Hvass&Hannibal, it stars Alexander Ivanovic Naumkin who once lived in Piramida (the now abandoned Spitsbergen town in the Arctic), and whose 8mm film features heavily on 'Monument'. The audio is a melding of the studio album version with the orchestral cut taken from The Piramida Concert, the group's live album recorded in...
When Efterklang premiered their fourth album, Piramida, to a sold out audience at the Sydney Opera House with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra last year, it gave birth to The Piramida Concerts - a special presentation of the record that had been orchestrally arranged by fellow Dane Karsten Fundal and New York composer Missy Mazzoli. They have since performed it this way a further 14 times, including sold out performances at London’s Barbican with the Northern Sinfonia and New York’s Metropolitan Museum concert hall with The Wordless Music Orchestra.
Allowing the band to present a different side to the record, they decided to commit one of the performances to tape. Fittingly they chose the concert they played in their native Copenhagen to be the one. Recorded live at the city's Royal Academy of Music Concert Hall in October 2012, the end result is this live album, The Piramida Concert.
When Efterklang presented their fourth album, Piramida, for the first time to a sold out audience at the Sydney Opera House with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra last year, the evening’s success gave the Danish act the opportunity to take this unique performance around the globe. Dubbed The Piramida Concerts, and with orchestral arrangements by fellow Dane Karsten Fundal and New York composer Missy Mazzoli, it has been staged fifteen times, with sold out performances at London’s Barbican with the Northern Sinfonia and New York’s Metropolitan Museum concert hall with The Wordless Music Orchestra.
Directed by Spanish filmmaker Victor Carrey, ‘The Ghost’ tells the surreal story of the curse that befalls anyone carrying an ancient amulet.

Efterklang first met Carrey in 2011 when members Rasmus and Casper were invited to be part of the jury for the FIB Cortos film festival in Benicassim, Spain. The winning film was Carrey’s La Huida (The Runaway).

Efterklang's Magic Chairs is the Copenhagen-based outfit's debut record for 4AD and third full-length in total. With the likes of 'Modern Drift', with its intricate and looping arpeggios, and 'I Was Playing Drums', arguably the band's most accessible pop song to date, it is an album that is a bold as it is bewitching.
