Magnétophone
Lost In Edit
A collage of Magnétophone’s album The Man Who Ate The Man (out now on 4AD) created by JM Lapham (of The Earlies).
When JM Lapham (of The Earlies) came across Magnétophone’s stunning new album The Man Who Ate The Man, inspiration struck. So - in the collaborative spirit of a record which features appearances by King Creosote, HMS Ginafore, James Yorkston, PG Six and Kim and Kelley Deal – he went into the studio to put together this sparkling collage.
Combining music taken directly from The Man Who Ate The Man with selected outtakes, stray noises and few touches of his own, JM created a woozy 15 minute tapesty which acts as a succint summary of the many delights the album has to offer and also conjures a magical atmosphere of its own.
The Lost In Edit collage formed part a Magnétophone session recorded for Rob Da Bank’s OneMusic show on BBC Radio 1 – broadcast on November 17th.
Magnétophone play The Luminaire alongside Minotaur Shock on Friday 18th November as part of the 4AD 25th Anniversary celebrations. There will be special guest appearances by Sonic Boom and King Creosote.
