Stornoway are excited to announce that they have confirmed a tour of the US. The dates kick off May 1 in Washington DC and conclude on Los Angeles on May 25. Tour stops include Brooklyn, Chicago and Toronto. This lengthy run will be Stornoway's first time back on our shores since touring their debut album Beachcomber's Windowsill with The Head & The Heart. The tour is listed below.
Stornoway’s second album, Tales From Terra Firma, is set for release via 4AD on March . The first video from the album for the track, 'Knock Me on The Head', was recently released and can be seen below. The lyrics for the song are loosely based on Samuel Taylor Coleridge's 1798 poem – “The Rime of The Ancient Mariner.” The video, directed by The Mitcham Submarine, is a contemporary adaptation of the poem and takes inspiration from the lyrics.
Singer Brian is The Ancient Mariner in the guise of a modern day TV weatherman, as he describes the journey of the doomed ship. Band members Rob and Jon play the Wedding Guest and Hermit respectively. Bassist Oli reports in 'live' from the quayside of the launch of a ship, which in design is similar to another famously doomed vessel. One of the other characters in the video is reading The Mariner's Mirror; a heavyweight nautical publication from 1911 which is still in circulation today.
