D.D Dumbo - Hear Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith's Remix of New Single 'Walrus'
D.D Dumbo : Hear Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith's Remix of New Single 'Walrus'
28th September 2016

As the release date for debut album Utopia Defeated nears, D.D Dumbo has shared a startling version of ‘Walrus’, which has been reworked by electronic composer Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith.  A bold interpretation of D.D’s latest single, Smith said, “I wanted to give the listener the feeling of plugging and unplugging their ears, or when you cup your ears with two cups and pull them on and off.”

The remix is accompanied by a mesmerising visual, which was created by D.D Dumbo collaborator and director, Jim Elson.  You can watch the video here and in the player below.  You can also stream on the platform of your choice here.

D.D Dumbo's debut album, Utopia Defeated, is released on 7th October; an epic, sprawling opus that has sprung from the imagination of Castlemaine’s Oliver Hugh Perry and was written and performed almost entirely by him.  Recorded at 4AD’s London Studios, and recorded, engineered and produced by Perry and 4AD’s resident engineer Fabian Prynn, the ten track album hurdles effortlessly over the expectations set by his intriguing debut EP.  It has already attracted excellent reviews from the likes of Rolling Stone, Uncut and MOJO.

“A most ambitious, rewarding and soulful debut.”  MOJO ****

"D.D Dumbo’s new record is rich and virtuosic without ever losing his confident grip on a vision that's deeply tasteful and musical."  Stella Mozgawa, Warpaint.
“Thrillingly fresh.”  Q
“A new kind of blues.”  The Guardian
