The National : Out Now : Sleep Well Beast
8th September 2017

The Independent *****
“Nuanced, understated, restrained. It’s fantastic”
  - The Guardian **** (Album of the Week)
"The National's best LP yet. Haunted by Mordant beauty, rattled paranoia." - Rolling Stone ****
"Elegant melancholia isn't enough for the National anymore. On its seventh album, "Sleep Well Beast," its new songs have more rhythmic ferment and melodic crosscurrents; they translate emotional complexity into musical counterpoint." - The New York Times
"With their seventh album they've achieved the rare feat of releasing one of their best - if not the best - collection to date." - Variety
"Sleep Well Beast is a towering achievement." - Under the Radar
"[They] have come roaring back with their most ambitious, urgent album yet." USA TODAY
"Sleep Well Beast kicks harder than any National album in more than a decade." - Stereogum
“Elegant, classy, subtly detailed” - Q ****
“It’s all beautifully put together” - MOJO ****
“Superb” Uncut 8/10

Today, The National release their new album Sleep Well Beast on 4AD

Last night the band performed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which you can now watch in the player below.  The New York Times have also debuted a new VR documentary, The National: Something Out of Nothing taking viewers behind the scenes as they crafted new songs for Sleep Well Beast.  In the film, directed by Oscar Nominee Marshall Curry, viewers are guided through The National's creative process in their Hudson Valley Studio as well as onstage as they perform at HAVEN Festival in Copenhagen.  Viewers can enjoy the film here or download the NYT VR app for a fully immersive experience.

You can buy from the 4AD Store here on LP/CD.
