'Nonument' is the debut 4AD release for Brooklynite Xian Hawkins AKA Sybarite. Nonument is released on September 9th and Sybarite will be playing live in Europe and America this Autumn.
'Nonument' is an impressive advance on anything Sybarite has produced up to now. The record pulls Xian's talents as an arranger and multi-instrumentalist sharply into focus and uses, for the first time, vocals (courtesy Brooke Williams and Gregory Kenney). Xian has released 7” singles over the last couple of years on the Emanate, Zealectronic and Static Caravan labels (the best of which were compiled on the Placement Issues album) so Nonument is, as good as, Xian’s first full album release. He also composed the soundtrack to the film 'Kill Me Tomorrow', released in 2000 on Temporary Residence under the title, musicforafilm.
