Daughter - Daughter Premiere Numbers Video Directed By Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard
Daughter : Daughter Premiere Numbers Video Directed By Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard
10th November 2015

Daughter – the London-based trio of singer/guitarist Elena Tonra, guitarist/producer Igor Haefeli and drummer Remi Aguilella – have launched a second new song, the soaring and devastating ‘Numbers’.

The second of a visual trilogy created by filmmakers Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard (behind the BAFTA-nominated Nick Cave feature film 20,000 Days on Earth), ‘Numbers’ takes its narrative from the short story ‘Windows’ – one of three works of fiction written by Stuart Evers and commissioned by Daughter.  The video is premiering on NPR here, and you can stream it on Spotify here.

Talking about the Not To Disappear film trilogy, Iain & Jane comment, “We love this band and have worked with them since their first video.  From their early demos coming out of the studio it was obvious they were setting the bar exceptionally high with the new album.  So we wanted to take an ambitious approach to the videos, starting by commissioning three short stories by one of our favourite emerging authors, Stuart Evers.  Then we adapted these into a trilogy of interwoven films, all shot on the Kent coast in one shoot.  A different actor leads each one: Richard Syms, Natasha O’Keefe and Marama Corlett. Plus there’s some sly references to Daughter’s past for the eagle-eyed.”  The first video, for the single ‘Doing The Right Thing’, can also be viewed here.

Set for release on 15th January 2016, Not To Disappear is Daughter’s second album and finds the London-based trio making confident strides forward both sonically and lyrically.  Elena, Igor and Remi spent the summer in New York recording Not To Disappear with Nicolas Vernhes (Deerhunter, War On Drugs, Animal Collective) at his Rare Book Room studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.  Profoundly ruminative and lugubrious, bold and direct, it’s arguably even more assertive and compelling than its much-lauded predecessor, their 2013 debut If You Leave.

Daughter’s comeback shows in November are now sold out, but Elena, Igor and Remi will start 2016 with a 12-date UK tour, kicking off on album release day – 15th January 2015.  Tickets for the January 28th show at London’s Forum are already sold out.  The band will then embark on a newly announced North American tour, with all dates below.

Not To Disappear will be released digitally and on CD and LP on 15th January 2016.
