Tune-Yards - tUnE-yArDs Launches Video For 'Bizness'
Tune-Yards : tUnE-yArDs Launches Video For 'Bizness'
25th March 2011

The video for tUnE-yArDs' Bizness' premieres online today. The directorial debut of Mimi Cave and choreographed by Sonia Reiter, the video perfectly encapsulates the youthful energy that courses throughout tUnE-yArDs' sonic make-up and the sheer joie de vivre that characterises Merrill Garbus' performances.

In line with the colour scheme used throughout the video, the band are inviting fans to become creatively involved in the project and submit photos of themselves - or any other objects they see fit - adorned in coloured face paint. To enter, fans should upload photos via a dedicated Flickr account here. For every photo submitted, Merrill will dedicate $1 to the Japan relief effort. The photo judged to be the most creative will win a boombox decorated by tUnE-yArDs in the colours of the w h o k i l l album artwork. View examples of photos here.

Explaining the concept behind the video, director Mimi notes: "The making of the video was akin to a finger painting assignment for grown-ups. We set out to create something that would stand-up visually to the incredible rhythms and layers in 'Bizness'. The kids in the video are Bay Area elementary students who dance and perform in their sleep, and young Merrill is played by the very talented Madeline O'Kennon. The stunning adult dancers showcase the modern dance talent in San Francisco. The amount of time and hard work put into this production was a true testament to tUnE-yArDs' moving compositions. If only we could live inside Merrill's music all day, everyday."

'Bizness' is taken from the band's second album, w h o k i l l, released on 18th April. In promotion of the album's release, tUnE-yArDs tour North America and Europe from April through to June. A full set of dates are listed below.
