Tune-Yards - 'Wait For A Minute' Streaming Online
Tune-Yards : 'Wait For A Minute' Streaming Online
8th April 2014

A second track from Nikki Nack can now be heard streaming on the band's YouTube channel, ahead of the album's release in a month.

‘Wait For A Minute’ is one of two tracks on the album to have been co-produced by LA-based producer Malay, most famous for his work with John Legend, Alicia Keys and Frank Ocean (producing Channel Orange). His sleight of hand helps to guide them to new tUnE-yArDs territory, slowing the tempo down to help showcase a stunning vocal performance from Merrill. The new mood is in keeping with the song's dark theme of addiction, though it's still propelled by the rhythmic bounce that the band are known for.

"We were nervous to work with Malay, as we'd never had experience with producers before. But he quickly gave us confidence, teaching us to create a full sound while maintaining a very sparse instrumentation. The tiny details give the song depth, so the vocal is allowed to take up a lot of space," Merrill says.
