Bon Iver's second album, Bon Iver, was recorded at his studio home in Eau Claire, WI and is an open love letter to his hometown. The tracks are all titled after place names – some real, some metaphors or hybrids - and the first single to appear is ‘Calgary’, a worship song to everything his debut album, For Emma, Forever Ago mourned. “I’ve never been there,” Vernon reveals. “It’s about what you don’t know. It’s a hopeful song, kind of like a wedding vow song for someone you’ve never met. Inviting that mystery into your life and believing in it.” The single is completed with a stunning cover version of Bonnie Raitt’s ‘I Can’t Make You Love Me’.
